Goldenrod Tea is both delicious and helps relieve a sore throat, so consider freezing some to dethaw for the cold season just around the corner from this late summer bloom. This recipe is quick and easy, sometimes that’s just what you need – for a more complicated herbal infusion, click here.
How to Make Goldenrod Tea
Step 1: Cut off the tops of a few goldenrod flowers. The amount you need is related to both the amount you want to make, as well as how intense you would like the flavor to be. This is all individual preference, practice makes perfect!
Step 2: Chop it all up so it fits in the pot nicely!
Step 3: Toss the flowers (leaves and stems are OK too) into a pot and pour in some water. The water amount is again related to personal preference. I like to use about 1000 liters of water (because it fills a mason jar perfectly) and 3 or 4 robust goldenrod flower crowns. This makes for a potent tea!
Step 4: Bring the water to a boil and then turn off the heat and take the pot off the burner. Let the flowers steep for around 30 minutes.
Step 5: Pour through a fine mesh strainer and enjoy your goldenrod tea!
